The Maritime Cluster Den Helder Development program is working step by step towards a future-proof port. Participation plays an important role in this. One of the ways residents can contribute ideas is through the sounding board group Gebied Nieuwe Diep/Nieuwe Werk (New Deep/New Work Area). This group consists of fifteen representatives from the area: residents, entrepreneurs, heritage organizations and companies in the field of sustainability, fisheries and logistics.
What does the sounding board group do?
The sounding board group contributes ideas on four important projects in the port area:
- The redesign of the Het Nieuwe Diep – Nieuwe Werk road.
- The renewal and relocation of the Moorman Bridge.
- The realization of the Ravelijn Bridge.
- The development of Buitenveld, the new accommodation location for naval personnel.
Opportunities and bottlenecks
Members of the sounding board group identify opportunities and bottlenecks and provide advice to the project team. Their input is visibly incorporated into the further elaboration of the plans. The decision-making lies with the partners of the Maritime Cluster program: the Ministry of Defense, the province of Noord-Holland and the municipality of Den Helder.
The first meetings of the sounding board group took place in September and October, each time at companies in the area itself. This is how we talk about the area and in the area: from future port development and cooperation on sustainability to the opportunities and challenges for the city, companies and residents.
Boatex not yet represented
The sounding board group is almost complete at the moment, but we are still looking for a representative from the Boatex, especially because of the Ravelijn Bridge project. Do you live in the Boatex or do you know someone who lives there and is interested? Then send a message to info@maritiemclusterdenhelder.nl.
Participation is possible in more ways
You can also contribute ideas even if you are not in the sounding board group. The project team regularly organizes information meetings and participation sessions. During these moments, plans are explained and there is often room for questions, concerns, ideas and suggestions. You can also respond by e-mail to info@maritiemclusterdenhelder.nl.
