Redevelopment Palace

Introduction

The building of the Naval Command in Den Helder, also known as ‘The Palace’, is being given a new purpose. It will become a place where maritime
innovation and education come together. In this way, the Ministry of Defence and its partners are demonstrating what is happening in the maritime world.

With this renovation, the Ministry of Defence is breathing new life into this special building. At the same time, it contributes to a strong and future-oriented development of the port area in
Den Helder.

Before the building can take on this new role, maintenance must first be carried out. This includes repairing roofs, walls, windows, floors and technical installations. This will restore the building to good condition. After that, it can be furnished in a beautiful and inviting way, befitting the appearance it deserves.

Insight into what it yields

The Naval Command is located in a special place in Den Helder: right between the city, the sea and the port. This makes it easily accessible and visible to people from outside and to employees of the Ministry of Defence. This location makes it possible to showcase the maritime work and modern technology of the Navy in an attractive way. This helps to get people excited about a job with the Ministry of Defence and other companies and increases the attractiveness of Den Helder and the region. This location also ensures that the port becomes stronger, both for civil and military activities. This is good for the economy of the city and the region.
